Al Malakia Persian Carpets is a luxury handmade-carpet retailer in Sharjah’s Central Souq, dealing in Persian and Afghan pieces — many one-of-a-kind — for clients across the UAE and beyond. We first built their website around six years ago. By 2026 that WordPress, Elementor and WooCommerce setup had aged out: slow on mobile, awkward to update, and visually behind the calibre of the carpets it was supposed to showcase. We rebuilt the site from scratch on a custom Next.js stack with a self-hosted database and a bespoke admin — super fast, image-rich, and tailored to the way Al Malakia actually sells.
Al Malakia’s Central Souq showroom is full of pieces that take months — sometimes years — to weave by hand. Tabriz, Qom, Kashan, Afghan tribal weaves, antique runners. Their previous site, built on WordPress and Elementor with WooCommerce running as a static catalogue, told none of that story. It loaded slowly on mobile, was difficult for the team to update, and looked generic next to the calibre of the carpets in the shop.
Returning customers were finding Al Malakia through Google and Instagram, then mentioning in-store that the site “didn’t look like the same place”. The brief from the client was clear: keep the brand and the showroom feel; rebuild everything underneath.
We didn’t refresh the old site — we replaced it. The new Al Malakia loads in under two seconds on mobile, with full-resolution carpet imagery and no waiting around. It feels closer to opening an app than loading a website.
The design is cinematic and image-led, with the carpets as the hero of every screen — considered typography, smooth scroll animations, and a deep, warm palette that nods to the showroom interior.
Al Malakia’s new website loads in under two seconds on mobile, holds its own on desktop, and gives the team a clean admin to add new pieces, write journal posts and update collections in both English and Arabic without touching code. After six years on the previous WordPress build, this one is set up to last — with online ordering, an Arabic-first product catalogue and additional languages all able to drop in on top of the same foundation when the time is right.
